Default for wild mammals: logged quietly

A black stripe down its tail and huge, black-tipped ears mark the black-tailed jackrabbit, found across much of the West and Great Plains. It’s a hare, not a rabbit, and its babies are born furred and already looking around. Mostly out from dusk to dawn, it makes its getaway in long, zigzagging bounds.
