California towhee
Melozone crissalis · Bird · Common in San Diego County
Default for birds: logged quietly
Sample: changes are not saved
California yards have California towhees all year: plain brown birds, rusty under the tail, that scratch through leaf litter and often forage two by two. Partners keep in touch with sharp, metallic chips. Some pick endless fights with their own reflections in windows and car mirrors, and nobody ever wins.
